Here are some notes to help you pick a dance style for your First Dance.
-
Beautiful dance style for many First Dance Wedding songs -- Nightclub
Two Step
-
Hustle -- 4 count hustle is a great partner dance you can do at weddings to most fast music. Much better to move together as one than just bounce up an down separately.
Line
Dancing - the electric slide line dance is very popular at weddings. Learn to do it so you can join in.
- Tango
-- some brides and grooms like to use an Argentine tango style of dancing for their First Dance. This can work, even if the music, strictly speaking is not Argentine tango.
- Cha-cha
-- good for a surprise First Dance. At least 5 private lessons recommended. This takes work, but it can be a lot of fun. Make your First dance different with cha-cha. (Sway Me Now!)
- Swing
-- You could use "A Kiss to Build a Dream On" and dance swing for your First Dance.
- Salsa
-- used with fast Latin music (usually quick, quick slow rhythm)
- Rumba
-- Good dance style for some slow love songs with a Latin feel.
