Professionals Guild
A Woman's Success Story
Professionals Guild is a singles oganization that was started
in the 1980's by a single lady named Maria. Professionals Guild serves
both the Sacramento and East Bay. Why did Maria start Professionals Guild?
Perhaps, she wanted to find a boyfriend. Perhaps she saw starting a singles
club as a good way to make a "little" money and fulfill
her need for companionship at the same time. Perhaps she saw a need for
a group that would support the growing number of "newly single"
people in her community.
At first it was just a few singles getting together, but
Maria was highly organized and was very good about sending out a printed
newsletter to singles notifying them about various Professionals Guild
parties. Later Maria did find a boyfriend (through Professionals Guild
perhaps?), and together they started using more technology to promote
their upscale singles club. Not only were members sent a postcard, but
a computer automatically called them and sent email to them about forcoming
parties.
Over the years, the parties became extremely successful
with hundreds of singles attending each party. Maria was very good at
marketing and working with the media. For example, she made TV appearances
on talk shows to promote the club and was able to work well with hotel
managers so she could book attractive ballrooms for her parties. Maria
would sometimes throw in an added bonus at her parties: a seminar for
singles, which she would organize and present herself. The music played
at the parties first featured popular dance music of the 70's and 80's.
As time went by, recent hits were added, but the music of 70's and 80's
continued to be featured by the DJ. As the parties grew larger, Maria
found she could afford to live a live band ocassionally; this brought
in even more people.
Maria organized Halloween parties, Valentines Parties, and
even created a "Singles Expo" at which other singles related
organizations would pay to exhibit at her parties. Exhibtors included
massage therapists, local "rag sheets" (free newspapers), psychics,
artists, jewelery stores, dance schools, online dating services, and more.
All this helped to fill Maria's coffers and it also helped to provide
an enhanced party experience for her subscribers.
A few years ago, Maria and her partner retired from the
singles business and reportedly sold Professionals Guild for hundreds
of thounsands of dollars! But her singles club singles parties are still
held in Sacramento as well as the East Bay each month.
Professionals Guild parties are still held only once a month, but many
singles like to go out at least once a week. That's not a problem
because there are several other
single organizations in the area that also have excellent parties
for singles in the Sacramento and Bay areas. For more information you
