Why a Wedding Web Page?A Web page is a great way to communicate to attendees about your wedding and events related to it. Building a weding web page is fun and will actually help you as well as your attendees, as you will soon see. What to Include Here are some ideas to get you started: At the Top Start with a nice bold title: _______ and ______'s Wedding Homepage. Under this title put a picture of you and your fiancee. Where and When. If possible include a scanned copy of your printed invitations. Also, include a map to the location. One way to do this is to go to Yahoo and search for maps. Then click on driving directions. Enter a likely starting address and put the wedding location as the destination. Then click the <Get Directions> button. When the directions come up, check them out. Make sure they check they make sense. If they look good, click the <Email Directions> button and email the directions to yourself. You can email either a link or html for the map. After you receive the email, you can copy the link (or html) and use it in your own web page. You may want to make 2 or 3 links -- to give directions from various starting points. Although you may think it is obvious, be sure you put the city in the address to avoid any confusion. Include a section called "About ______ and ________" (your names). Under that, you might put:
Wedding Details The Wedding Party -- here you may want to include a graphic of a bride and groom -- like this:
We are registered at _______ and __________. We are also registered with ______ for our formalware listed below. To request a catelog, please call: ___________________. To help people pick out gifts, list your colors and table ware brands and other itmes. For example: Here are our colors: Kitchen: Dark Green/White and Ecru Bedroom: Living Room: Everyday Dinnerware Tools Your DJ. Your DJ will appreciate it if you include a link to his or her web page. Just put "Our DJ's Web Site" and link to it. For example:
The map to the wedding location may have been included under "When and Where," but it doesn't hurt to repeat links so they are easy to find.). Note that you can create your own map and scan it or create a link to a Yahoo map as explained earlier. Just be sure you check the Yahoo map for accuracy! After the Wedding After the wedding, you can revise your website and put a section called (aptly) "After the Wedding". That section can have links to: Wedding Pictures
Pictures. For pictures a digital camera a is handy. But you could also scan pictures, or get your pictures on a CD (from Kodak for example). To save space, I recommend you save all pictures as ".jpg" files. Pictures often appear first in .bmp format. But you can click "save as" and specify that you want the file saved in this format. This "jpg" format is specially good for putting images on web pages. If you don't have a web page, you may want to consider seting up a permanent family home page. A good, yet inexpensive web hosting service for this purpose is Hostsave. Or your may want to avail yourself of some of the free web page services. Search for "free web page" at Yahoo. There are also special webs available for event announcements. The process of building a web page for your wedding can be a lot of fun. You can provide a lot more detail in a web page than you can in various printed announcements that you might send out. Building a web page can also help you in your wedding planning. That's because in the process of building the web page, you will think of a lot things that you might otherwise overlook.Enjoy your big day! You can look great dancing at your wedding reception!
